Using Auto Conﬁ guration

Auto Conﬁ guration is the quickest and simplest way to create a new storage con-

ﬁ guration. When you select Auto Conﬁ guration mode on the ﬁ rst Conﬁ guration

Wizard screen, the Conﬁ guration Wizard creates the best conﬁ guration possible

using the available physical disks.

Follow these steps to create a new storage conﬁ guration in Auto Conﬁ guration

mode:

1. Select a redundancy option from the drop-down menu at the bottom of the Auto

Conﬁ guration window:

– No Redundancy: The new conﬁ guration will have no data redundancy (RAID 0).

If a physical disk in the conﬁ guration fails, all data will be lost.

– With Redundancy: The new conﬁ guration will have data redundancy via mir-

rored data (RAID 1) or via parity data (RAID 5). If a physical disk fails, data is still

protected.
